Hark the herald angels sing!
Christmas is coming to Kensington Street. Sydney’s newest lifestyle destination will be abuzz with holiday spirit and abundant in food and beverage from 11AM – 8PM on Sunday 13 December at our inaugural Kensington Street Christmas Bazaar!
Got a wandering eye for gift opportunities? Set your sights on our collaborative bazaar, proudly supported by Greencliff Realty and Kensington Street Holdings, in conjunction with Yelp, 2SER and the Australian Design Centre – a free event to which all are welcome!
Chippendale’s sprawling community will converge in this open-air marketplace, akin to family gathering round a table laden with the fruits of our labour and delicious fares from our gourmet chefs. Curated by the Chippendale Creative Precinct, Sydney’s brightest artisans, distinguished galleries and creative enterprises will take their seat at the table, passing fresh ideas and cutting-edge designs to and fro.

Stalls will line Kensington Street in a panorama of culinary masterpiece and creative products. Our chefs will present quite literally a moveable feast, each curating a menu of takeaway dishes. Peruse our stalls with a taste of the Bistrot Gavroche cheese and charcuterie experience, cured to European elegance. Sweeten up at KOI, Reynold Poernomo’s debut dessert bar, after savouring some Bar Chinois tapas boards and Mekong’s punchy satay. Break open a curry puff and dip into steaming laksa from the Kopi-Tiam on Spice Alley. Its restaurants Alex Lee Kitchen, Bang Luck Thai Street Food and Old Jim Kee will dish up Asian cuisine with all its authentic zest on two avenues: Kensington Street’s main passage and the hidden courtyards behind it. Whether you dine by Federation facades or under lantern ceilings, it’s hardly a strain on the purse strings.

On this warm Sunday, simmer down with a sip of sugarcane juice.
A pop-up bar will slide out alcoholic drinks and cocktails to lacquer all of us in a festive finish and bring a gleam to the eye. It’s always 5 o’clock on Kensington Street.
Pass through a bustling hub of the most talented designers, eager to share their wares and engage in classic marketplace banter. Rummage through prints, browse soft furnishings and strands of custom jewellery in an atmosphere enlivened by Christmas carols, acoustic tunes and the verdant scent of Clementine Posy’s Christmas trees.
From this artist collective, LOCAL DESIGN will bring forth their forerunners to showcase works from the likes of industrial designer Tom Fereday, DAAST, Shilo Engelbrecht and Elbowrkshop. Indulge in bespoke wrapping paper from Kate Banazi, cultivated to the taste of each customer, and UTS Masters of Design will be exhibiting their designer pieces within the creative concept space.
Times Flys Design
We will also be graced by artists from the Australian Design Centre, stalwart champions of Australian design focused on spreading the power of design across everyday life. Their new architecturally-designed storefront, located in City of Sydney building on William Street, Darlinghurst, continues the Australian Design Centre’s fifty year legacy of celebrating contemporary design from young hands and old souls alike.
The child at heart is bound to emerge at Christmas time, so flock to our workshops! Weave your own Christmas wreath or deck the walls with aerosol paint at our graffiti station. Amidst the wandering crowds, keep a lookout for our visitor from the North, Santa Claus.
