CCP’s broad range of initiatives bring together and foster economic growth and creative sustainability, establishing the Chippendale area into an arts, food and lifestyle destination exciting even the most cultivated palate and seasoned gallery-goer.
Under the watchful eye of President Nicky Ginsberg, and director of the NG Art Creative Residency program, the CCP, now rebranded to Destination Chippendale, has transformed from an emerging, innovative undertaking to an established network of more than 15 galleries, charming cafes and renowned restaurants, as well as avant-garde businesses and individuals. Ginsberg is the life force behind the burgeoning creative community and cultural hub that encompasses the precinct and continues to oversee its endeavours.
Visitors are invited on various cultural odysseys such as time-travelling strolls through Chippendale’s past on our regular Historical Walking Tours, exclusive insight into the established and up-and-coming galleries and artists working in Chippendale on our Gallery Walking Tours and ventures through global cuisines and local culinary delights on our regular Food and Wine Safaris.
Drawing upon the range cultural and creative opportunities emerging within the area, the Destination Chippendale Gallery Guide, showcases Chippendale’s world class galleries, bars, cafes, restaurants and boutique businesses in a vibrant cartography for visitors from around the world.
Among the CCP’s most innovate initiatives is the rigorous Internship Program for budding curators and arts practitioners, providing hands on arts industry experience for students and creatives alike. Since its inception in 2010, the CCP has provided a creative platform and practical insight into the operation of a not-for-profit arts organisation, having teamed up with prestigious local institutions such as University of Sydney, Notre Dame, UTS, Sydney College of the Arts and National Art School to name but a few.
CCP’s activation of Chippendale in conjunction with the Central Park Mall development and Kensington Street restaurants and boutiques has provided the precinct with ample opportunities for new creative businesses and individuals to establish connections in order to collaboratively foster the expansion of Sydney’s premiere creative precinct. The CCP’s Membership and Sponsorship Programs allow for local businesses to align their brand with the CCP’s passionate commitment to the arts while positively promoting your businesses endeavours and forging connections between key stakeholders and members at our regular Networking events. Notable sponsors include APN Outdoor, Greecliff Pty Ltd, Central Park and City of Sydney.
After breathing much life and creative spirit into Chippendale, the BEAMS Festival celebrated 5 years in 2017 and has since been farewelled. To continue nourishing and provoking artistic expansion, the CCP is brazen and bolstered by initiatives such as the Chippendale World Art Residency formerly known as the Chippendale New World Art Prize, Kensington Contemporary Gallery, Action Chippendale Fundraiser, specially curated Media Famils Private Tours and Chinese New Year celebrations.
The Annual General Meeting will be held on Thursday 8th December 2016 at Kensington Street, Chippendale NSW 2008.
