In 1997, Corporate Culture was formed to provide not only exceptional designer furniture, but also a high level of customer service, a combination not yet experienced in the Australian marketplace.
In his endeavours since then, company founder and director Richard Munao has built one of the most comprehensive collections of brand partners in Australia and New Zealand. Corporate Culture has grown from its first location in Sydney to now include showrooms in Melbourne, Brisbane and Auckland as well as distributors in Canberra, Adelaide and Perth.
In 2009 it became clear that Corporate Culture’s direction had shifted to such a degree that it needed a sister brand to handle the company’s burgeoning residential operations. Richard then developed Cult as the new residential arm of the Corporate Culture portfolio. The Cult brand is specifically tailored to residential clients, with a more focused range of furniture and homewares brands, dedicated retail environments and staff, and in 2012 will include the option of online shopping.
In addition to founding Corporate Culture & Cult, and supporting strong international partners like Fritz Hansen, Poltrona Frau, Magis, Cappellini, Emeco, Carl Hansen and Louis Poulsen, Richard is actively involved in discovering and mentoring emerging Australian and New Zealand design talent. As founder of the annual Corporate Culture Design Journey Competition, which began in 2004, Richard gives designers throughout Australia and New Zealand the opportunity to have their designs prototyped and put into production.
Corporate Culture’s commitment to supporting Australian design can also be seen through the company’s strong relationships with designers such as Ross Didier, Lisa Vincitorio, Paul Morris and Thomas Seymour. Corporate Culture was also instrumental in launching designers like Henry Pilcher and Kate Stokes into the local and international markets.
To further foster and develop Australian design talent, Corporate Culture has been involved in a range of national awards programs. 2012 marks Corporate Culture’s tenth year supporting the Idea Awards as sponsor of the Designer of the Year category, and second year sponsoring the Australian House of the Year award through Houses magazine.
Corporate Culture is proud to be involved in these awards programs which recognise emerging talent and celebrate the success and accomplishments of established designers.
