COUNTDOWN: 1 WEEK UNTIL BEAMS

BLASTING INTO BEAMS

BEAMS is just one week away and we have got the engines burning, ready to blast into a festival of creative brilliance! This one-night bloc party has stamped its mark on the Sydney calendar and will be returning for its fifth year bigger and better than ever.

Join us on an adventure through galaxies filled with musical talent, chase a dancing star as they streak through the alleyways, indulge in the nebula of culinary creations and be a part of this supernova festival on Saturday 17 September, 5 - 10pm.

BEAMS will be a shooting star of creative flair! This festival will light up the sky and send  Chippendale buzzing well into the night. We’re firing up the engines and strapping ourselves in for an adventure of a lifetime - with one week to go, we’re ready to blast into BEAMS!

100 METRES OF LIVE GRAFFITI AT BEAMS

Mulga

Free to all festival goers, we will be transforming nine Chippendale alleyways into a brilliant cosmos of creative innovation. Over 40 of Sydney’s best street artists will gravitate to O’Connor Street, just around the corner from Kensington Street, and transform our 100m graffiti wall with their urban flare.

Sydney’s slammin’ street style is coming to BEAMS! Uncover your urban swagger in Chippendale’s downtown as the festival brings together the city’s best street artists for a live, one-night jam.

Emmanuel Moore

Assistant curated by Scott Marsh,  and generously sponsored by Colliers, the festival will be showcasing a 100m live graffiti wall that will be plastered by over 50 back to back pieces from artists such as Mulga, MAID, Ox King, Ayla the Caveman, Emmanuel Moore and YIPES... just to name a few. Decked out with their spray cans you can watch these urban innovators spray, splatter and smear O’Connor St in colour as they energise the festival with their brilliant burners.

If you haven’t had your fill of street art, there is more. Ziggy’s bar is famous for the killer graffiti works that cover its walls, and this year the Japan Foundation is bringing JonJon Green, an internationally acclaimed street artist, to the festival. His dazzling use of colour will showcase the very best of what’s happening on the global street scene.

DANCE THE NIGHT AWAY

AMPA IS GETTING THEIR GROOVE ON

TuneArt and Perfect Hair Studios

BEAMS has a spectacular line up of dance performances that will send sparks flying into the night. From ballet to hip hop, Latin to contemporary, the festival has a performance to send a smile streaking across every face!

AMPA has leaped on board this year and will be transforming Frasers Property's Wonderland, on the corner of Kensington & O’Connor St, into a stage bustling with dancing talent. Step into this dreamscape and encounter theatrical ballet tributes, sultry jazz numbers and fiery tango performances, and be dazzled as they descend upon the Kensington Street laneway.

Their Open Genre Dance Battle at the end of O’Connor Street will be an unmissable spectacle of creative spontaneity with over 30 performers rocking away.

Come witness these performers lock horns and energise the night in a vibrant flurry of dance.

And just around the corner on O’Connor Street will be the PRINTemps Workshop with Wynne Prize finalist Nicole Kelly to inspire the creative spirit of young and old.

For those in search of something quirky we invite you into the former NG Art Gallery on Little Queen Street where Nauti Studios and Work.Shop will be inspiring festival-goers with a Neon Life Drawing Workshop. Or try your hand at origami with the acclaimed Jayanto Damanik’s and his Spiritual Garland Workshop on Kensington Street, where your masterpieces will contribute to a stunning work of collective creativity.
