WE'RE GOING GREAT GUNS IN CHIPPENDALE

We're going great guns in Chippendale, with so much going on and all that's still to come, we can't believe 2015 is half gone already!

We have an abundance of fabulous businesses in Chippendale we'd like to introduce you to - not to mention upcoming exhibitions, amazing opportunities for neon-artists with THE OLD CLARE HOTEL and the BEAMS ARTS FESTIVAL racing around the corner in September where we'll activate a new lifestyle haven KENSINGTON STREET.

Want to know more about BEAMS? Information for community members.
There are 2 community information evenings to answer any questions you may have!
Tuesday July 286 - 7pm
Tuesday September 16 - 7pm

Both discussions will be held in the upstairs gallery at 3 Little Queen Street, Chippendale and complimentary wine will be available - we look forward to welcoming you!

BEAMS FOOD VENDORS

Keep an eye out for submissions opening for BEAMS FOOD VENDORS!
Submissions to be made via the Chippendale Creative Precinct (CCP) from Friday July 24.
Submissions will be open for a 2 week period. We have a selected number of food stalls available on the night, with CCP members to receive top priority.

The CCP is working around the clock to support economic sustainability in Chippendale, fortifying creative and community engagement, and bringing domestic and international visitors to this dynamic cultural hub in the heart of Sydney.

WHAT'S AROUND THE CORNER IN CHIPPENDALE?

The BEAMS arts festival is hitting the streets in a one-night-only bloc party on Saturday the 19th of September from 5pm - 10pm with a multitude of creative practitioners already on board to bring colour, sound and light to the laneways. We're partnering with some of Sydney's newest hospitality businesses to fuel festival-goers, a taste of Chippendale's burgeoning reputation for fine food and lifestyle options.

The KENSINGTON CONTEMPORARY opening in September is the latest of Chippendale's 20 galleries, tucked away in the newly restored heritage laneway, Kensington Street. The gallery will become the go-to drop in centre for all things Chippendale, from its rich history to current events and lifestyle options. Kensington Street will activate for this year's BEAMS, a satellite of love for emerging arts and contemporary culture - don't miss out!

The OLD CLARE HOTEL is on the hunt for light artists to add vibrancy and electric flair to Sydney's latest boutique 5 star hotel, set to reopen any day now. Commissioning permanent installations from neon light artists, this ALL OF THE LIGHTS artists call-out will achieve the Old Clare Hotel's vision to provide a unique experience for visitors that is closely tied to local experiences and the creative community it joins.

Neon artists across forms of light, lettering and installation must submit their proposal via the Chippendale Creative Precinct curatorial team at this address: info@chippendalecreative.com.au

WHAT'S ON AT GALLERIES IN CHIPPENDALE

Leo Coyte, from the series Mystic Misfits, 2015, oil on linen, 76 x 76 cm

Galerie POMPOM has an exciting catalog of exhibitions upcoming at this ambitious space in Chippendale. POMPOM engages artists and works of conceptual sensitivity and visual eclecticism, exhibiting solo and group shows regularly.

Leo Coyte's Mystic Misfits draws on the painterly potential of formal incongruity, merging realistic renderings of semi-figurative objects and bodies with bursts of colour and abstraction.

Mystic Misfits opens Wednesday July 22 6 - 8pm until August 16.

For more upcoming on the POMPOM agenda, drop in at Galerie POMPOM at 2/39 Abercrombie Street, or visit their website for more information.

THE CCP NEEDS INTERNS FOR BEAMS

ARE YOU CREATIVE MINDED AND SHARE A PASSION FOR THE ARTS?

The Chippendale Creative Precinct offers internships for creative-minded interns who share a passion for the dynamic arts and cultural scene in Chippendale!

We connect businesses and individuals across a range of creative and cultural industries, facilitating economic sustainability in Chippendale. Together with our major sponsors - Frasers Property Australia, Sekisui House and City of Sydney - we run a number of initiatives in Chippendale, namely:
● BEAMS Arts Festival in September
● Chippendale New World Arts Prize
● Carlton Project Space rent-free exhibition space
● Opening the Kensington Contemporary on newly refurbished heritage lane 'Kensington Street'

The internship offers extraordinary insight into the arts sector in the domains of
● Curatorial and installation opportunities
● Marketing, PR and social media campaigns
● Event management
● Business and Administration

All applications must address a knowledge or interest in the arts, and at least one of the aforementioned domains. Applicants must commit to 2 days per week for a period of 6 months.
For more information, see our Pedestrian call-out.

Could your business benefit from offering an internship program?

An internship program is mutually beneficial opportunity for businesses to share their industry expertise with talented students and graduates before they enter the workforce.

This training prepares future professionals for the opportunities within their chosen field, and insight into the day to day workings of the business.

The Chippendale Creative Precinct can assist in the development of internship programs for creative industries. For more information contact Nicky Ginsberg, President of the CCP

Emilio Cresciano - Cubed Metal 2 #40 Emilio Cresciano - TV Sets #2

Emilio Cresciano is a Sydney-based artist and photographer interested in documenting the 'non-spaces'; the invisible aspects of our urban environment are perceived and reimagined by Cresciani's "x-ray vision".
In Cresciani's work the metallic approaches viscera. Images become negatives and sensitivity finds itself overwhelmed by toxicity. Capturing what is otherwise publicly disowned, Emilio Cresciani is staking a claim for his own sharply emerging photographic identity.

REMAINS OF THE DAY opens on Friday July 31 6 - 8pm at Carlton Project Space and concludes on the 2nd of August.
